How To Calculate the Volume And Weight of Asphalt For Road Construction
Let us now Calculate the volume and weight of the asphalt in the below-given drawing. .
Given data:
Length of the asphalt = 2km = 2000m.
Width of the asphalt = 8m.
The thickness of the asphalt = 100mm. = 0.1m.

Calculation For Road Work
The volume of the asphalt in a road
= length × breadth × depth
= 2000m. × 8m. × 0.1m.
= 1600 cum.

The compacted weight of the asphalt
= Volume × asphalt density.
As you know,
The density of asphalt = 2243 kg/cum.
So, the total weight of the asphalt
= 1600 cum. × 2243 kg/cum.
= 3,56,800 kg.
Civil Engineering Interview Questions
While doing the road construction work, the asphalt is procured in tons from a hot mix plant.
1 ton = 1000 kg.
The total quantity of asphalt required
= [3,56,800 ÷ 1000]
= 356.80 tons.
Assalam O alaikum sir kindly correct two points
1) density of asphalt
2) tons of asphalt at the end .
dont mind but how can we lay 356.80 tons of asphalt in 2km with width of 8m road ?
